Every month it is a pleasure to showcase our amazing students that take dance lessons at Arthur Murray here in Connecticut. For now enjoy reading about these top notch students, some who have been here for a few months and some for a few years. They are all part of our dance family!
Glastonbury: Zach, Melissa & Austin
What do you do for a living? Zach is an energy engineer, Melissa is an Aestheticism and Austin is a 5th grader.
What is one fun fact that no one else knows about you? Roller skating was an early passion.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of dancing? Golf and cooking.
How long have you been dancing? One year in February 2018.
Why did you start dancing? To have date night and Valentine’s Day 2017.
Do you have a favorite style of dance? What is it? Zach – Smooth and Quickstep. Melissa – Waltz, Viennese Waltz even though we are not supposed to do any yet :) Austin – Swing! With the triple step.
What is your favorite Arthur Murray event of the year and why? August Freestyles. The live orchestra was great!
What else do you hope to accomplish in dance? To travel the dance floor in confidence in all styles.
What do you do for a living? My career was as a statistician in cancer research--now retired.
What is one fun fact that no one else knows about you? I climed Huayna Picchu, which overlooks the Incan ruins at Machu Picchu. Steep--but worth it, fantastic views.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of dancing? Spanish, puzzles, family history. But main focus these days is our little grandson Michael.
How long have you been dancing? Ballet and tap as a child, modern and folk until my daughter was born, diversion to karate when she was older and then 12 years of ballroom.
What did you start dancing? Ballroom started on a dare to my husband Brent and a friend's husband. Friend's husband caved first, both tried it out and and amazingly Brent discovered he liked to dance!
Do you have a favorite style of dance? What is it? Love them all! Though merengue a little less so.
What is your favorite Arthur Murray event and why? Holiday Ball. Great setting, lovely way to celebrate the season.
What else do you hope to accomplish in dance? Check out of Full Silver and dance every dance offered at an Arthur Murray event!
How do you spend your weekdays when you are not dancing? Work- Travelers, Likes to travel, Learn a new language
What is your next favorite hobby after dancing? Volleyball & Soccer/ traveling to at least one country in the continents
How long have you been dancing? 6 years 10/20/2011 :)
Why did you start dancing? I had been thinking about learning to dance for just over a year. I was doing Zumba at work and enjoyed the dancing aspect of that, so after receiving an Arthur Murray coupon in the mail he decided to stop waiting and get started!
What has been the best part of the learning process? Developing a passion for dancing and being able to do more when out on the dance floor. I also love meeting new people and feeling like I can dance with anyone!
What is your favorite style of dance? I love all styles of dance! I enjoy the character of the Tango, the classiness of the Waltz, and the emotion of Rumba and Salsa!
What is your favorite Arthur Murray event and why? January showcase is my favorite. I like that it offers a little bit of everything. Solos, entries, dinner, dancing and the dance camps.
What are you looking forward to accomplishing next in dance? I am looking forward to continuing to grow and learning more. Next stop concurring Bronze IV.

Hosam is a wonderful student that always brings a positive light into the studio. His smile always makes everyone feel welcome, and his friendliness makes even the newest student feel at ease. He is always the first one to get out on the dance floor. Hosam can be found at every event supporting the Vernon Eagles! Vernon would not be the same with out him.
Bloomfield: PatriciaWhat do you do for a living? Home maker, was in insurance for 25 years.
What do you do for a living? Quint is self employed servicing restaurant beverage systems. Sherri is a cook in the West Hartford School System.
What is one fun fact that no one else knows about you? We have three cats and two pit bulls. We are involved in animal rescue.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of dancing? Sherri loves her Zumba and Zumba toning classes. Quint enjoys taking long walks with the dogs.
How long have you been dancing? 2 1/2 years.
Why did you start dancing? We wanted to try something different. Neither of us had ever danced before.
Do you have a favorite style of dance? What is it? Quint’s favorite dance is hustle. Sherri’s favorite dance is salsa.
What is your favorite Arthur Murray event of the year and why? The Van Dome party bus trip and salsa dancing at the club is fun.
What else do you hope to accomplish in dance? To become more fluid in the dance and to become more confident too.
Danbury: Maggie & Dan
What do you do for a living? Dan is a manufacturer representative for Hunter Engineering and Maggie is a propane service dispatcher with Norbert & Mitchell Company!
What is one fun fact that no one else knows about you? Dan loves doing DIY projects & Maggie can quote any Disney movie!
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of dancing? Dan enjoys flying drones and video games! Maggie enjoys scrapbooking, photography & playing with Rosie!
How long have you been dancing? We’ve been dancing for two years!
Why did you start dancing? We started dancing a year before our wedding to have a perfect wedding dance
Do you have a favorite style of dance? What is it? It’s a toss-up between Rumba & Tango!
What is your favorite Arthur Murray event of the year and why? Our favorite event is Beach Ball because it allows us to feature any particular dance we have been working on and it allows for the flair and fun!
What else do you hope to accomplish in dance? We want to learn how to use our knees in dancing!
